Since 1993, Jan has worked with
businesses to evaluate their primary strengths and opportunities,
and to guide them through the process of making critical business
improvements. Jan also helps clients clarify their vision,
goals and priorities, and implement effective process management.
This increases client revenues and decreases their business
costs, resulting in higher profits. For some clients, she
also provides assessment and business improvement leadership
based on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria.
Jan
works with start-up firms and growing organizations to help
them design and implement effective process management, maximizing
the flexibility of their operations while minimizing costs
and complexity. Jan also works with clients as a project manager,
facilitator for leadership and project teams, action planning
and follow-up sessions, and as an individual coach.
Jan received her MBA from the University of California, Berkeley
and her BS in journalism from Iowa State University. She served
five years as a national examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige
National Quality Award, and was a member of site visit teams
evaluating three national finalists for the prestigious award.
She also served several years on the leadership team for the
California quality awards and as a judge for the California
Team Excellence Awards.
Prior to establishing her consulting practice, Jan worked
seven years at Apple Computer evaluating, recommending and
implementing improvements in key business processes in product
development, manufacturing, distribution, finance and administration,
and sales and marketing.
Her clients include Apple Computer, biotech and internet companies,
Wells Fargo, Southwestern Bell Communications, and a variety
of rapidly growing small businesses in the Bay Area. She also
