Project Management and Coaching Services
- Is one project that you’re managing taking up double or triple
the time you thought it would…and you’re backed up beyond belief?
- Are members of your project team starting to miss milestones,
or deliver something other than what you thought they would, and
need them to?
- Are project surprises (bad ones) continually cropping up
for a whole variety of reasons?
If so, you may be dealing with declining team focus, half-hearted efforts (despite the best intentions) and poor results. Team members may suddenly or gradually be "too busy" to attend mandatory meetings. And there may be increasing fear by those left with the project that it will fail.
Opportunity is within your grasp. If you were not stretched so thin with too many responsibilities, what more could you accomplish? Through strong project management and coaching, you can keep your competition from snatching up those ripe opportunities you notice, but can’t get to now.
Throughout the past fifteen years, I’ve worked with large and small companies who have asked me about how to effectively manage and coach teams to complete major projects well, and on time.
Their questions fall into five broad categories:
- What’s the project goal? Is it vital to do this project now? Often, a project starts with debates: about what the project really is, whether it’s the most important way to use limited time and money now, and what success will look like when the project is done. If that’s the case with your big project, it’s time to call on experienced help to get the project started – or restarted, if you’re already underway – right from the beginning.
- Do we have the right team? Assigning people to project teams can be a tricky thing. If the project has lots of management attention because the risks are high but the rewards are, too, there’s probably plenty of demand to get a chair on the team. But the key question you have to ask and answer is whether every person who will be assigned to the team is valuable – or vital – to getting a great job done. Having a well-thought-out strategy for creating the team that will do the job best has a huge impact on whether your project will work, at all.
- How do we create a workable plan? You need to head out of the starting gate with a plan that virtually guarantees that your high-profile project will be a success. Let us show you how to turn solid plans that look good on paper into a team plan and process that produces effective, consistent results.
- How do we overcome obstacles? If any of your team members have an underlying resistance to change, even though they accepted a chair on the project team, they may say things such as, “I don’t know how to do this,” “I’m not good at it,” or “I don’t have time.” We can help you handle project-busting barriers well, neutralizing these obstacles right from the start.
- How will we fit another project into our schedule? For many, lack of time is the biggest challenge to success. There never seems to be enough of it – certainly not for you, as the project leader – or for the members of your project team. The impact of a foolproof project management process will create more room in your busy schedule, make managing the team easier, and keep everyone focused on the goal of producing great results together.
If you struggle with these issues, then read on…
If you had all of the answers to any of the questions above, project management would be easy, wouldn’t it? Just think of what it would be like if none of these deterrents were there.
What if…- You found it easy to develop realistic, achievable and motivating goals for your project teams?
- You had little resistance to project management activities?
- Projects and management became a game, rather than a burden?
- You could generate ideas for individual and team actions that would lead most directly to the desired results?
- You could take those ideas and quickly implement viable and systematic plans?
- You could find more time in your schedule to put plans into action and start creating success.
"Thanks for having some of the best listening skills in
the business, and teaching them to us. That was a bonus, but turned out to
be a vital part of our success, as a project team."

Project Management and Coaching Services
Much of my work involves helping companies plan and execute big projects. Along
the way, I train and coach employees how to become self-sufficient.
We turn big projects into a comprehensive process using coordinated
action and coaching support for teams and leaders. Initially, many
feel overwhelmed by their experience of having worked long hours, often
at great personal cost.
People do not expect the subsequent result of our efforts. They discover
the project team process and experience to be surprisingly satisfying,
especially when the goal is achieved more easily than they expected.
What we create and what they achieve, and learn, in the process is
much greater than what they originally anticipated.
"Jan is one of the most effective coaches I've encountered. She helped
me break through psychological barriers and make rapid tremendous strides.
I made more progress on projects within a few short weeks than I had in the
previous six months. Her ability to help pinpoint goals, create powerful momentum
and help me stay on track was a key asset in the successful start of my business."
